Israeli Airstrike Kills Three in Gaza as Ceasefire Tensions Persist

An Israeli strike has killed at least three people in Gaza, Palestinian health officials say, in the latest attack on the besieged enclave.

Medics and eyewitnesses said the strike hit a crowded area in Gaza City, near a site where police were deployed to guard a bank.

At Gaza City, April 24 2026, three people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on Friday. Palestinian officials said this happened. It is the incident to shake the ceasefire between Israel Defense Forces and Hamas. This ceasefire is already very fragile.

The strike hit an area near a bank in central Gaza City. Local health authorities said this. The Gaza Interior Ministry said two of the people who were killed were police officers. Several others were hurt in the blast. Emergency services went to the scene. They took the people who were hurt to hospitals. People who live there were trying to get to safety.

People who saw what happened said it was really scary. There were things flying over the street after the explosion. Regular people were trying to help those who got hurt. The area where this happened is usually very crowded. This makes it super dangerous for people just standing around. This kind of problem happens a lot when there are strikes in cities, in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel Defense Forces said they did the strike. They said it was to stop militants who work with Hamas. Israeli officials said they are doing this to stop attacks against Israel. They want to stop Hamas from being able to do things in Gaza.

The Palestinian authorities were really upset about what happened with the strike. They did not think it was okay because of the agreement they made with Israel in October 2025 to stop fighting. The people in charge, in Gaza said the ones who got killed were just doing their work. They said Israel is going after the authorities and the people who work for the government and public institutions like schools and hospitals. The Palestinian authorities are saying that Israel is targeting the authorities and the people who work for them.

This latest violence shows that things are still not stable in the region. The ceasefire was supposed to stop the fighting that started in October 2023.. Even though big military operations have stopped both sides say the other side is not following the rules.

Since the ceasefire started many Palestinians have been killed in incidents. Israel has also had people killed. This has made it so people do not trust the ceasefire. They are scared it will get worse.

The Gaza Strip is one of the crowded places in the world. This makes it very dangerous for civilians when there are operations. Even when the strikes are targeted they can still hurt a lot of people. This is because homes, businesses and public places are all very close together.

The fight between Israel Defense Forces and Hamas has killed tens of thousands of people since 2023. Palestinian authorities said this. It has also destroyed a lot of things in Gaza. People are still dealing with the damage to buildings not having things they need. The healthcare system is not good.

Other countries are still talking about what they think about the strike.. When things like this happen people usually say that everyone should be careful and protect civilians. Human rights organizations want someone to look into what happened when civilians get hurt.

Analysts are worried that things like the airstrike on Friday could make the other side do something back. This could make things more unstable. The fighting does not seem like it will stop soon.

The situation is still changing. We will know more as we get details, about what happened.
