Sudan Accuses UAE and Ethiopia After Drone Strike on Khartoum Airport

Sudan’s military leaders are now speaking out strongly. A drone hit Khartoum International Airport. General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan says the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia are involved. This happened in May 2026. It’s a deal in Sudan’s ongoing civil war.

The war is still going on. The attack hurt parts of the capital. This includes the airport. The airport has already been disrupted a lot. This is because of the war between the Sudanese Armed Forces. The war started in 2023. People saw explosions. They heard air defense fire. The military said some drones were stopped. They were stopped before they hit their targets.

The military leaders are worried. They think this might make tensions, in the region worse. Sudan’s military is still fighting. The RSF is fighting against them. This is a problem. It’s been going on for a time. The military leaders want to stop it.. It’s still happening.

Sudan’s government says the attack is linked to support for the RSF. Burhan’s accusations against the UAE and Ethiopia are some of the public criticisms of regional actors since the conflict began. Sudanese officials think that advanced drone tech used in the attack might mean outside help.

These claims are being argued about. Ethiopian officials say they had nothing to do with it and that the claims are not true and are meant for gain. The UAE has not said if they were involved. They previously said they did not help groups in Sudan.

The incident shows how messy Sudan’s civil war is. It began as a fight for control, between the SAF and the RSF. Now it is a problem that affects people and countries. If other countries get involved the region might become more unstable.

The RSF, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has been accused by Sudan’s military of carrying out drone and artillery attacks on government areas. Drones have become more common in months. These attacks have targeted installations, airports, power facilities and residential areas.

Khartoum, which used to be the economic city in Sudan has been hit really hard. A lot of areas in the city are affected. Basic services people need are not working. The airport has been attacked. If the attacks, on buildings and roads keep happening it might be hard to get help to the city. It could get cut off.

The things Burhan said show what could happen next. Sudan has sent back some of its representatives. Said things could get worse. This means the government might deal with countries in a more aggressive way.

The situation in Sudan is getting people who watch from countries really worried. The Horn of Africa and the Red Sea area have a lot of problems. If things get worse it could affect a lot of people.

People who study these things say we need to be careful about what people say when there is a fight going on. Sometimes they say things to get people on their side or to change what people are talking about. When people make claims about who’s involved we need to look really closely at what they are saying. The attack on Khartoum International Airport with a drone is a deal. Even if we do not know what will happen next this attack shows that important places can get hurt easily.

What is happening in Sudan now shows us two things. The drone strike and the fighting, in Sudan are very bad. They also show that the whole area could get pulled into the fight. As things get worse in Sudan we really need people to talk to each other and figure out what is going on so that things do not get even worse in Sudan.
